wyld. Our mission.

“The road to financial freedom, happiness and clean oceans.”
— Thor, yesterday

-Tommy, looking for that road. June 2022

What the heck is this post all about? Oh, just a quick overview of why we are here, the meaning of the universe, and what we’re trying to achieve with wyld. Together with some steps that might just help us get there.

Okay so who are we? Well we are wyld. A team of filmmakers who’ve been doing this for a while, a whole nine years in fact, gone through some phases (the filmmakers), had some mental breakdowns, questioned our place in the universe, all that good stuff, and realised what motivates us is telling stories about people and brands who are trying to do some good for the planet. (here’s a video going through that whole things)

Our mission is to drive awareness for these brands so people can

  • Discover sustainable products and solutions,

  • Explore and help charities that are actually doing good, like cleaning the ocean of plastic waste…

  • Help people find ways to live a life full of adventures in the wyld, enjoying this beautiful planet without completely destroying it.

  • And finally be inspired to contribute positively to the world, which ultimately will ensure that in a thousand years from now some kid can go to a beautiful ocean and learn to surf.

So how do we do that? How do we operate as a business? Our key pillars if you will.

  1. We realize that NO ONE LIKES ADVERTISING, so we tell stories that don’t suck and people actually want to watch.

  2. Producing the greatest films possible within the time and budget so we get our customers in front of the maximum amount of eyeballs. The better the video, the more impact it’ll have for them- since it’s a company doing good that means, better video -> more impact on the world- WOOOP WOOOP! Also, they(you) will hire us again so we make more money which allows us to…

  3. Implement sustainable production practises and strive to reduce waste in every aspect of production.

  4. Maximize our profits so we can donate 10% of our profits to sustainable charities.- (as long as it doesn’t counter any of the other points.) The more profit we generate the more funds we’ll donate to charities doing good and the more sustainable gear we can buy. In this scenario everybody wins. Win - Win - Win.

  5. Produce projects in a sustainable way (as much as current technology allows) and include a carbon tax for what we can’t control that will be donated to (tree planting charity or Carbon extraction plant) It won’t be a perfect calculation but will be as close as we get (average computer use, transport, electricity charge, items bought etc. props and so forth)

In short, our business “thesis” is that we believe if we create the best in class stories for the given budget and time constraints, in the most sustainable way, while living and breathing this ethos will attract companies with similar values to us who will WANT to work with US woop woop. TLDR - here’s a graph->

We don’t want to sell ourselves, sales people are not who we are or want to be. But for us to go out there and single handedly SAVE THE ENTIRE world, people need to hear about what we do. We need cash in the bank, clients, projects, all that good stuff. BUT our focus will always be on keeping it simple, telling great stories that educate, entertain and delight. Then in the end a potential client (you) see what we do and think gee wizz I like these wyld. folks, and WE think oh jeepers this client is pretty cute, then all is well and in the world and we can work together, hey ho, let’s go!
