Social Good Through Storytelling
Get ready for some charity talk, folks!
As you may already know, at wyld. we’re dedicated to creating the best sustainable and social good films. As part of our work and commitment to our goals we are also supporting small charities that are in need the most for some killer video content to promote their causes and raise more donations to roll out their work.
First, let’s learn a little bit about the scope of what we’re talking about here.
In the UK alone, there are a whopping 170,000+ registered charities working hard to support all sorts of causes - from health services and children's welfare to international aid and rehoming animals. That's a whole lot of organisations working towards making the world a better place!
In this particular initiative, the focus will be on working with the smaller charities, you know, the ones that perhaps can’t afford a polished video.
The majority of the charities in the U.K. are small, with 156,646 charities having an income of under £1 million in 2018/19. These small charities make up 96% of all voluntary organisations in the UK and play a crucial role in supporting local communities and addressing specific needs. To keep the charitable donations rolling in, these charities rely on the kindness of individuals, businesses, and the government. And while most charities are small, they play a crucial role in supporting local communities and addressing specific needs. But let's face it, running a charity is no walk in the park. It comes with its fair share of challenges, from funding and governance to regulation and sustainability.
The good news is that people in the UK are a generous bunch! In 2020 alone, people gave a jaw-dropping £11.3 billion to charity, up from £10.6 billion in 2019. And get this, the average monthly donation in 2021 was £49 - talk about making it rain! 💰
Unfortunately, COVID-19 has had a negative impact on most charities in the UK, especially small ones. Reduced income, increased demand, and staff and volunteer challenges are just some of the effects charities are dealing with. But with a little bit of innovation and digital technology, some charities have managed to adapt to the changing times.
Marketing is a vital part of getting the word out about charities and their causes.
For small charities, social media marketing, PR and publicity, event marketing, mini-documentaries and crowdfunding campaigns are all popular ways to spread the word. And of course, creating video content is a powerful tool for promoting your mission, showcasing campaigns, and attracting more eyeballs (and wallets!) to your cause.
Not all charities can afford to produce high-quality video content, and that’s where we come in..
The process will be pretty simple, we have a page dedicated to the work we do with charities, which you can find by pressing HERE. Every quarter, we choose a new organisation to partner with, and offer consultation to help determine the best video strategy for your organisation and make the most effective use of your resources.
Once we know what you’re up to and your current strategy, together we’ll develop a video project that we believe can help your mission. We’ll work with you on developing the concept, writing the script, filming and editing - basically the full shebang to make a high quality video that you can use to promote your cause. We will do all of the work either pro bono, or for essential expenses only (travel, if it’s really far, etc., all depending on individual circumstances).
If you think your organisation is suitable, please don’t hesitate and get in touch!
